From Debbie;
Obviously some of this information has come from the Fascial Kinetics website and does deal with the science behind Bowen Therapy. There is a lot of information out there about the Fascia surrounding all muscle groups within our bodies, it's purpose and how Bowen Therapy effects this tissue. It is very much like the the fine white membrane that you see on a roast of meat. We can all relate to this. Bowen Therapy by opening the water channels first and then applying the cross fibre moves, the fascia in turn hydrates the muscle. This is often the cause of much pain and restrictions in movement of the muscles within our bodies and it is how this Therapy differs from other styles of massage technique. I believe the benefits are more long term, especially when the series of three treatments are followed. The moves do seem quite simple in application from other techniques, but in most cases the responses are quite amazing and often my clients are very impressed with their recovery and often return for a top-up or maintenance treatment periodically or after some injury of some sort. Most of my clients are for Bowen Therapy Treatments, as it deals with our aches, strains and pains which simply don't go away with a bit of topical heat cream. Sometimes I may suggest a visit to a Chiropractor, although not all clients will do this. Most of my clients come for neck, shoulder and back problems. Sometimes wear and tear on our aging bodies takes it toll on our muscles and joints and I do my best, (with my experience) and may suggest some tissue salts, thoughts on diet, diet specific for blood types and compresses etc, or the Reiki will pick up some emotional attachment. In that case a gentle and compassionate understanding is needed. Some clients need a little bit of time to build up that trust and that is as it should be. I have a broad knowledge in all aspects of health and have at present created a great 45 minute exercise program for the elderly, anyone recovering from injury or lack of exercise. This exercise program covers all the body, breathing techniques and yoga. I am working on a DVD that I plan to have for sale on my website. I give thanks to the Fascial Kinetics website for some of the science behind Bowen Therapy and have attached their link for you to peruse.
